Imagine your life without the one book, movie, or album that shaped your life. What would be different about you?

What would be different about me? I’ve gone through most of my life feeling difference. Growing up in a smaller town on the outskirts of Liverpool, hiding my queerness and trying to navigate a life of mixed identity in a predominantly white surrounding.

With that comes a feeling of alienation and loneliness, watching Weekend by Andrew Haigh in my formative years gave me some feeling of hope and desire for a future of connection. I may not have had the confidence to make the decision to leave that town to the big city where difference actually becomes mutual.
